CLEVELAND — ALERTS: A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING has been issued for Cuyahoga & Lake Counties until 2am Friday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Geauga County until 2am Friday morning due to an increased threat of heavy lake effect snow and wet accumulating snow. For more details, click this link.
Steady snow will move in off Lake Erie and slowly shift inland tonight as low pressure meanders through Lower Michigan. With temperatures dropping into the lower 30s this evening, snow could accumulate across the warning & advisory areas between 3 and 8 inches by early Friday morning. Around the advisory, snow is also likely with accumulations from an inch to 3 inches by sunrise. Strong northwest winds will transport heat from the warmer lake into Northern Ohio after midnight. Temperatures will rise to between 35 and 40 degrees by 7 am, just in time for the next round of precipitation. I expect mainly rain for the lake shore counties for the Friday morning rush with inland counties seeing snow or a mix during the morning, changing over to a cold rain for the afternoon. Roadways will be very wet and slick for travelers through Friday night!! Friday’s high temperatures will climb into the middle 40s. Winds pick up even more this evening through Friday. Gusts will reach as high as 40 mph on Friday.
This weekend looks much drier with seasonal temperatures!
